Train Exhibit

***Note: We're renovating! The train exhibit and model railroad are closed to the public until further notice as we strive to enhance the experience offered here at Thronateeska. Contact us with questions, comments or concerns.***

Walk through Albany's historic Union Station and see some of the technology that transformed the South. Along with our steam locomotive and selection of other rail cars, Thronateeska also has an HO-scale model railway exhibit inside one of its train cars.

The model railroad exhibit is a favorite of many Thronateeska visitors, especially children. Once a railroad baggage car and mail car that made trips to New Orleans and Jacksonville, the train has been turned into a model train haven.

The model trains move through small towns and forests and are set up for visitors to view in the green REA baggage car.

FAQs
Can we have a train ride at the museum?
-No, all of our rail cars are stationary. You may be interested in taking a ride on the Sam Shortline, one of the closest passenger trains near Albany.
